Christa’s work is the result of an internal need to create; it is a challenge and an outlet, a discipline and a passion. Focusing on the overlooked aspects of her surroundings has led her to create pieces that magnify the seemingly insignificant. Her primary subject matter and passion is oysters. She has been fascinated with each shell’s unique depth and luminosity. Her paintings strive to render the delicate yet strong nature of these seaside treasures.
Since becoming a Jamestown resident, the rugged beauty of the island has inspired her work. Her textural landscapes are an effort to preserve a moment in time, the feeling of a day, or the memory of a mood.
Christa is an art educator and artist working in Rhode Island. She graduated from Rhode Island College with a bachelor's degree in art education and a concentration in oil painting.
